Sheffied Esteli Society, in discussion with Club de Ancianos Santa Lucia in Esteli and The Crib youth club in Sheffield, wrote a project to involve children and young people with their elders in both towns in 2013. Funding was sought externally and at the end of 2014 the project was initiated. Links were made between two education initiatives for children and young people, Alegria Arts in Sheffield and Inciativa Colibri in Esteli and the participants in these groups conducted community research and interviews in their neighbourhoods, with the objective of recording the stories of the people they met.
- Workshops for storysharing and interviewing in the community where each young person was responsible for recording and recounting the story of an elder neighbour.
- Translation and redaction of these stories to publish in a booklet commemorating the twinning between the two towns and the experiences and knowledge of their older residents.

The production of a book celebrating the stories of everyday people in Sheffield and Esteli and the relationships established with the younger generation by creating opportunities to share and exchange memories. This bilingual book is available in both cities to participants and others who want to learn a little more about their twin town and their own heritage. The activities have also given rise to new interest in the twinning in both towns.
